Anton Bonnici’s interest in food began at a very young age. One can say that it was his appreciation of his beloved Grandmother’s delicious meals so lovingly and painstakingly prepared, that sparked his interest in food preparation. Indeed, it was nostalgia for his grandmother’s tasty meals that led him to adopt her method of slow cooking meals – The secret behind the success of many of his mouthwatering meals. Anton has had a long and very successful career. For many years he worked freelance on private yachts and at private houses all over the world – in New York, the South Caribbean, South America and South East Asia – where he gained a vast amount of experience, learning about different cuisines. He brought the fruit of his experience back with him to Malta in 1991. When he became chef at the popular Snoopy’s Pub & Restaurant in St.Julian’s. He later moved on to the Riviera Restaurant in Spinola, St.Julian’s. Anton’s next move was to open his own restaurant – the Bella Romagna at Spinola, St. Julian’s. In 2002, he became Head Chef at the Ghonella Restaurant at Spinola Palace, St.Julian’s. In 2006, Anton became Head Chef at Peperoncino where customers can now enjoy a variety of delectable dishes on the enticing menu created by him. Dishes which have a strong Italian influence with an exciting innovative twist, most of which have the basis of their success built upon the all-important method of slow cooking learnt so many years ago.

Cooked with cubes of chorizo, garlic, cherry tomatoes, prawns and extra virgin olive oil.

Cooked on a Rock Salt block and served with fresh Rucola, Cherry Tomato and Parmesan Cheese salad.
